Homeopathy is a therapeutic system of medicine developed by Samuel Hahnemann nearly 200 years ago in Germany.  Since that time it has spread to every country of the world.  Homeopathy is based upon the "law of similars" - similia similibus curentur, "let likes be cured by likes". This means that a substance administered in large crude dosages to a healthy individual will produce specific symptoms, but when this same material has been reduced in size and administered in minute doses, it will stimulate the body's reactive process to relieve these same symptoms.  An example is Ipecacuanha (Ipecac).  If taken in large quantities it produces vomiting; but taken in minute doses it cures vomiting.  Ipecac, when administered in minute Homeopathic amounts, will even stop the gagging which frequently follows a coughing spell.
